I can't keep up and Iam so lost. There's no real direction in anything and the professors just keep
throwing assignments and tests. About to call it quits this semester and try again in the fall. An online Meet-up for CUNY students to
discuss what ever it is you wish to discuss!

Speaking as a prof--reach out to your professors and let them know you're struggling. Even if they
won't give any accomodations, like someone else said here you can choose to receive a pass/fail
instead of a letter grade at the end of the semester. The pass/fail option won't even carry the
usual stigma on your transcript bc of the circumstances. Some colleges are even forcing all grades
to be pass/fail. So just do what you can, talk to your profs, and keep on keeping on.

Profs are encouraged to be accommodating due to current circumstances and thus all is
negotiable—- if a prof is not contact an advisor and ask for help
I would be stunned to find a prof in CUNY who wouldn't be understanding at the moment

Not having a breakdown on my end but I feel this. This is why I didn’t want online classes. Some
professors/subjects are just really not good online. It’s a shit system. I can’t even pay attention to
these classes anymore.

Title
"Having a breakdown falling behind in online classes"
Description
In this Reddit thread, posted on April 2, 2020, one student wrote about their experience of falling behind in their coursework, leading to "having a breakdown" during the Covid-19 pandemic. The student attributed their problem to the lack of direction from the professors and the disproportionate amount of work required to complete their online coursework.
This item is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) Distance Learning Archive, a group project developed as part of Prof. Matthew K. Gold's Spring 2020 Knowledge Infrastructures seminar in the Ph.D. Program in English at The Graduate Center, CUNY, in partnership with the Interactive Technology and Pedagogy Certificate Program. The project's goal was to resist or trouble the discourse of catastrophe around the shift to online learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic by documenting the lived experiences of students, faculty, and staff across CUNY's 25 campuses. Further, the project wanted to document the moment of crisis response by taking a critical approach to educational technology.
