TO: The Members of the DATE: February 28, 1968
BOARD OF HIGHER EDUCATION
FROM: Porter R. Chandler SUBJECT: Bedford-Stuyvesant Coalition on
Educational Needs and Services
During the past week, each member of the Board has received telegrams and a
letter from the Bedford-Stuyvesant Coalition requesting individual meetings: with
Board members, and presenting several resolutions of this organization relating to
Community College VII.
At the Board's meeting of February Bb, this matter was discussed at some
length in executive session; and it was the consensus of all those present that I
should respond to the Bedford-Stuyvesant Coalition ‘for the Board as its Chairman.
The Board members present at the meeting felt that it would be neither necessary
nor desirable for Board members to respond individually to this series of
correspondence. .
I am attaching a copy of my reply dated February 27, 1968 for your informa-
tion. I also attach copy of a previous letter which.I had written to Mr. Pinkston
on February 20, 1968 and a follow-up letter from Fred Burkhardt to Mr. Pinkston
dated February 27, 1968. : ’ re ee Moe ee
