3 My professor isnt responding to her emails
I asked her a question on Wednesday on how things were gonna be and our assignments. The next's
day she dinnt respond but she uploaded an assignment on blackboard but it wasn't clear so i had to
email her another question and its not due till next's Tuesday. In case she doesn't respond what can I
even do I figured the college is closed meaning the chairmen would't help me out

I'm unclear on what you need. They posted an assignment on blackboard, go and do it.
The CUNY email systems are overloaded and not working well, sometimes there are delay of 13
hours or more on delivery.
You need to check blackboard and follow instructions there.

To mitigate this. Sign into Cuny first and change the preferred email for QC. They’ll email your
gmail/icloud whatever instead of Cuny email. For most things. It'll lighten the load on Cuny
servers.

I was under the impression that while the domain name of emails depends on your school, the
backbone is microsoft since we basically have a office 365 account.

No, it's CUNY servers running MS software. There have been big email lags.

sorry for late reply what i was trying to say is that she still uploads blackboard updates but
doesnt check her email. Like what if I have a question and I need to ask her something about
future assignments

They've announced that they wil/ not check their emails? THat's absurd. Complain to their
chair and the dean of students. Post in the discussion board in the meantime.

It's possible she might still be waiting for her plans to be approved. Or maybe she's the type to
only check her email once or twice a week. If she doesn't reply before the day your class is
Supposed to start again, check your QC email inbox for an email with the subject "Keep learning,
QC: Distance education begins". It has a Google form you fill out if a professor hasn't contacted
you about their distance learning plans, and they also mention an email address you can contact
directly with concerns.

Most Staff from QC, have their staff email listed on the QC site.
For example, QC Math department. Just google “QC Math department”
Find the appropriate search result. On that site there'll be a link that says “staff”. That's what you're
looking for.
Under there it'll have all the contact info for all professors, the chair of the department, and
anyone else you could possibly want to find. Sometimes even retired staff.
Also. If you pay attention to QC mail, the mail you sign into using Cuny First credentials, they sent
out an email in regards to this particular topic. I'd take a look into that if you haven't already.

In this Reddit thread, one student chronicled their struggles navigating course communications on assignments in Blackboard during the Covid-19 pandemic. Part of these anxieties resulted from their inability to maintain contact with their instructor as a form of recourse to resolve their Blackboard problems.
This item is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) Distance Learning Archive, a group project developed as part of Matthew K. Golds Spring 2020 Knowledge Infrastructures seminar in the Ph.D. Program in English at The Graduate Center, CUNY, in partnership with The Interactive Technology and Pedagogy Certificate Program. The project's goal was to resist or trouble the discourse of catastrophe around the shift to online learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic by documenting the lived experiences of students, faculty, and staff across CUNY's 25 campuses. Further, we wanted to document the moment of crisis response with a critical approach to educational technology.
