Still being charged Student Activity Fee and CUNY Technology Fee for
Summer?
I just checked the charges due for my summer course and both are included. How is this at all ethical,
being that everything is online per the Chancellor's order?

Access to school computers, printing, library use, etc.

Activity FeesFunds paid by each student to support student clubs, student government, various
campus services, and a variety of student activities. These range from around $60 to $180.00 per
semester for a full-time student. A part-time student pays less.
in other words, if you dont participate in any of these, its a total rip off.

I wholly agree, particularly as someone who works full time and therefore has no time to
participate in them anyway. However, the fact that they are being charged for a semester when
there will be no campus services or student activities for anyone, is beyond the pale. And the
simple fact is the entirety of tuition should be substantially discounted--why am I paying the
same exact rate to essentially teach myself through a hodgepodge of absolutely half assed
"distance learning" classes? I would apply to DeVry instead.

This Reddit thread, posted on April 12, 2020, resolved CUNY students' questions regarding student activity and technology fees during the summer semester of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This item is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) Distance Learning Archive, a group project developed as part of Matthew K. Golds Spring 2020 Knowledge Infrastructures seminar in the Ph.D. Program in English at The Graduate Center, CUNY, in partnership with The Interactive Technology and Pedagogy Certificate Program. The project's goal was to resist or trouble the discourse of catastrophe around the shift to online learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic by documenting the lived experiences of students, faculty, and staff across CUNY's 25 campuses. Further, we wanted to document the moment of crisis response with a critical approach to educational technology.
