MEMORANDUM
To the college community
From the acting president
I have been in touch with the Kings County district attorney
this morning regarding bail for the Brooklyn College students indicted
yesterday. He informed me that application has been made by defense
attorneys for a bail review and, if the court approves the review, the
district attorney will waive the 48-hour waiting period stipulated by
law for a hearing. A hearing was tentatively set for 2 p.m. today. —
I would like to reemphasize at this time that no one in the
= college administration had anything whatsoever to do with the preparation
_of charges or the identifying of students named in yesterday's indictment.
acy
The district attorney conducted the investigation on his own initiative
and the judge set the bail. I appreciate the district attorney's readi-
ness to review the bail and it is my hope that the court will resolve the
pane ins a . just: and. equitable manner.
