Archive on Municipal Finance and Leadership
Description
The Archive on Municipal Finance and Leadership at Baruch College makes available significant documentation of the city's fiscal crisis of the 1970s. This archive, compiled by the college's School of Public Affairs and hosted at the William and Anita Newman Library, contains two collections. First are the records of the Municipal Assistance Corporation, a state agency created to borrow money and to police the city's spending practices. A second collection gathers a large number of published and unpublished documents collected by Jack Bigel, an advisor to the city's municipal unions.
