WE DEMAND THAT THE SUSPENSIONS OF THE THREE SDS MEMBERS BE RESCINDED
AND THAT ALL CHARGES AGAINST THEM BE DROPPED.
WE BELIEVE THAT THE STUDENT COURT HAS PROVED BY ITS SPEECH AND AC-
TIONS THAT IT IS A TOOL OF THE ADMINISTRATION, DESIGNED TO GIVE A COVER
OF LEGALITY AND DUZ PROCESS’ TO THE* OUTRIGHT SUPPRESSION OF SDS AND ITS
POLITICS, THIS IS SO BICAUSE OF THE OBJECTIVE NATURS OF THI COURT, erste
THE HOMRSTY AND SINCERITY OF SOME OF THE JUSTICES. THERE CaN BE NO DOUPI
THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE DEFENDANTS TO GET A FAIR TRIAL IN FRoNT OF
THIS COURT, ESPECIALLY SINCE DEAN OF STUDENTS PIERSON IS BOTH PROSECUTOR
AND ULTIMATE JUDGE.
FURTHER, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WE BELIGVE THaT THE ACTION TAKEN BY
THE THREE DEFENDANTS AND OTHERS TO * STOP GENERAL ELECTRIC FROM RECRUITING
WAS RIGHT, AND IN THE INTER:ST: OF THE MAJORITY OF QUEENS COLLEGE STUDENTS.
THIS CORPORAT IO. CAME ON CAMPUS TO RECRUIT STUDENTS TO ACT AS ITS AGENTS
IN A WORLDWIDE POLICY OF USING RaCISM AND EXPLOITATION TO MAKE PROFITS
FROM THE PRODUCTION OF IMPLEMENTS OF GENOCIDE. NEITHER THE THREE DEFEN-
DANTS NOR THEIR FELLOW STUDENTS HaVE SWAYED FROM THEIR DETERMINaTION TO
PREVENT AND PROTEST THIS AND OTHER CORPORATE ATTEMPTS AT RECRUITMENT.
SPECIFICALLY, EVEN GREATER SUPFORT IS BEING CREATED TO OPPOSE TEE US
MARINE CORPS ON APRIL 10th,
WE CONDEMN THE QUEDNS COLLEGE ADMINISTRATION AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF
THE INTERESTS OF CORPORATIONS, NOT OF STUDENTS. THIS IS NOT AN ACCIDENT,
BUT DUE TO THE NaTURE OF THIS SOCIETY, IN WHICH A VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE OF
THE POPULATION OWNS AND CONTROLS THE ENTIRE ECONOMY AND iACHINERY OF GOVERN-
MENT, INCLUDING ALL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS.
BECAUSE WE THINK THAT THE INTERESTS OF THE CORPORATIONS ARE DIRECTLY
OPPOSED TO THE INTERESTS OF STUDENTS, WE DEMAND THAT CORPORsTE AND MILI-
TARY RECRUITMENT BE ENDED ON THIS CAMPUS.

Statement by QC SDS
Description
Created by the Queens College chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), this flier from spring 1969 features the group's demand for the reinstatement of, and dropping of charges against, three students that had forced a General Electric recruiter off campus in March. Additionally, the flier provides support for the students' actions with regards to the recruiter and promise to oppose the presence of a Marine Corps recruiter in April.
The students' demands would form the basis for a multi-day sit-in in the school's Social Science Building during the last week of March. During that demonstration, 39 would be arrested on April 1 as police cleared out the building at the administration's behest. Unsurprisingly tensions remained incredibly high between students and administration for the remainder of the school year with increased unrest and multiple closings in April and May.
